Starting in January 2027, Surgery Today will undergo several important changes. A transition period will be implemented during 2026 in preparation for these changes. Among these changes is a shift from a hybrid publishing model to a fully open access model.
Submissions under the current publication model will be accepted until 15 May 2026 on the Springer website. After a one-month pause in new submissions, Surgery Today will reopen for submissions on 15 June 2026 under the new system. Please note that revised manuscripts will continue to be accepted in the previous system after this date.
